Hobotics grew out of the eccentric experiences of a petroleum industry engineer.  I have worked above 69 degrees North, below 70 degrees South, and mostly in Canada.  These experiences include the typical petroleum industry work on and off-shore and overseas. But it has also included working on embedded programming projects, database creation, IT support, research and development in areas such as tide clocks and plastics recycling, and just about any other type of activity someone with an engineering degree can get into.

It was in 1970 that I worked and lived below 70 degrees South.  I spent one year as a participant of Operation Deep Freeze during that time and was based at the U.S. McMurdo Antarctic Research Station.  I was a civilian specialist tracking polar orbiting satellites that were the precursors to the current GPS system.
